Professional development: Excel Boot Camp

Strong Excel skills can improve efficiency, accuracy and decision-making across many roles at Ontario Tech University. This one-day boot camp is designed to help employees build practical, confidence-based skills that can be applied immediately to reporting, budgeting, tracking and data analysis.

Participants will move beyond basic data entry and learn how to create clean, structured and high-functioning workbooks that support everyday work.

Participants will:

  • Use essential formulas such as SUM, COUNTIF, IF and XLOOKUP.

  • Understand absolute and relative references, named ranges and order of operations.

  • Create clear, effective charts to communicate data.

  • Organize large datasets using tables, sorting and filtering.

  • Remove duplicates and apply data validation with drop-down lists.

  • Analyze information using Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts.

  • Customize layouts, apply built-in calculations and use slicers.

  • Explore how artificial intelligence tools such as Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT can support Excel workflows.

This session is recommended for employees whose responsibilities include reporting, tracking budgets, managing lists, analyzing trends or presenting results.
