 2024 Spring/Summer information 

Friday, May 10
  • Six-week spring and 12-week summer session fees due in full.
  • Last day to add six-week spring session courses.
  • Last day to drop six-week spring session courses for a full refund.
Friday, May 17
  • Last day to add courses to the 12-week summer session.
  • Last day to drop 12-week summer session courses for a full refund.
  • Last day to drop six-week spring session courses for a 50 per cent refund.
  • Last day to withdraw from six-week spring session courses without academic penalty.

 OSAP extension for the Spring/Summer term

OSAP students planning on taking full-time classes during the spring/summer semester (minimum of nine credit hours; minimum of six credit hours for students with a disability), will need to complete an OSAP Extension Form after you've fully registered.

To find this form:

Go to MyOntarioTech.

Click on the Current Students box.

In the Student awards and financial aid box, select OSAP forms then OSAP Extension Form.

Please note: Bachelor of Education Concurrent or Consecutive students will be emailed directly with the OSAP Extension Form link.

Important dates and deadlines 

Your academic year at Ontario Tech University follows a schedule of important dates. You are responsible for knowing and meeting all deadlines found in the academic schedule, including fee payment dates and course add/drop dates.

 Ucard and U-Pass information

  • U-Passes are issued to eligible, full-time students through the PRESTO E-Tickets app each semester. Once distributed, an email will be sent to eligible students’ ontariotechu.net email account with further instructions.
  • For more information regarding the U-Pass and how to access it, please visit our U-Pass web page.
Ontario Tech Ucard
Ucard Requirements for Exams
  • Your digital Ucard can only be used for exams and tests if there is an accompanying photo. Without a photo, your digital Ucard is invalid and will not be considered an acceptable form of ID.
  • A valid government-issued photo ID that is in English is another acceptable form of ID.

 Use QLess to join our virtual line

Need to visit the Office of the Registrar for help? Use QLess to join our virtual line and wait where you want!

Ways to join the line:

  • Text ONTARIOTECH to 289.207.6526.
  • Visit the Ontario Tech mobile app and select the QLess card on the homepage.
  • Check-in on-site at the Office of the Registrar.

Note: Please arrive on campus no later than 30 minutes prior to closing hours, regardless of your estimated QLess wait time. If the Office of the Registrar closes at 4 p.m., you should be on campus no later than 3:30 p.m.

 Printing on campus

Default network password

Your default network password is your birth date in MMDDYY format. You must change it before you can access your student email (.net) account, Canvas and Wi-fi on campus. 

Name/gender change

If you're seeking to update your legal name, preferred first name or gender, please complete the name/gender change form. The length of time to complete these requests is normally three working days. During peak times, processing times may be longer.


 General announcements

  • Beginning Monday April 22, the Campus Libraries will operate on summer hours and will be closed on weekends.
    Please see the hours pages for more details.

  • Did you know that the university features a number of Indigenous artists across campus? You can view a large collection in Charles Hall at our downtown Oshawa campus location.  Academic support

  • Writing Specialists offer a broad range of academic writing workshops throughout the year. Writing workshops are designed to provide guidance about academic writing expectations in university. Writing workshops are interactive, focus on specific topics and can be booked on the Student Life Portal. 

  • Are you interested in an engaging employment opportunity for the Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 semesters? The Student Learning Centre is hiring high-achieving students with a minimum GPA of 3.3 to become Peer Educators! This hybrid role provides up to 12 hours per week and offers the opportunity to work in a variety of positions including: Peer Tutor, Peer-Assisted Study Session Leader, Peer Success Facilitator, Study Hall Tutor and more!  Career readiness

  • Calling all new grads! If you're set to graduate this June, we know looking for jobs can be challenging and overwhelming. That’s why we’ve created iLaunch, a conference designed to help you launch into the next phase of your career. Get job prep ready and join us on Wednesday, June 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m for a series of informational workshops, to learn practical work-readiness skills
    and to meet and network with employers! Learn more and register.

  • Explore your employment identity with our Dungeons and Dragons Employment workshops! This five-week workshop will be held on Thursdays from May 30 to June 27, gives you the opportunity to build your own Dungeons and Dragons character and journey through quests that explore skills related to employment and employment identity.   • The Employment Readiness Program, running Wednesdays from May 29 to June 26, is a series of workshops designed to teach students practical job readiness skills and skills for navigating the workplace with success. Students who attend the workshop series will have access to additional one-on-one peer support with an Employment Peer Coach who can help address career-related concerns. Learn more and register.

  •  Embrace digital wellness with Wavemakers! Wavemakers is a free virtual career building program that gives you a head start to your career. Sharpen your skills, build your network and meet with top Canadian employers. Each student that participates has the chance to win a $2000 scholarship. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity and apply today.

  • The Career Centre has services available to support you in various ways. Book an appointment on the Student Life Portal for any of our one-on-one supports including career counselling and employment advising.

 Community

  • As an ambassador campus, Ontario Tech is hosting the 2024 Moose Hide Campaign on Thursday, May 16 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Fireside Reading Room. As an Indigenous-led, grassroots movement of men, boys and all Canadians, we are committed to standing up to end violence against women and children.   • Student Life is recruiting for 2024-2025 Orientation Leaders. Visit the Leadership positions website for more information and to submit your application.

  • Applications are open for the Korea Arctic Academy, hosted online from July 5 to 12. The Korea Arctic Academy, is an initiative to facilitate exchanges between students from both the Arctic region and Korea to develop and share a common Arctic vision. To be eligible to apply, you must be in third year or above. Submit a cover letter and one page motivation letter to isabelle.guissard@uit.no or jiyeong111@kmi.re.kr by Saturday, June 22.

 Health and wellness

  • Are you curious about mindfulness and self-compassion? Could you use a mindful break in the middle of your week? Join Bonnie Pedota—Mental Health and Wellness Facilitator—virtually on Wednesdays from May 22 to July 24 from 1 to 1:45 p.m. for a journey of learning, discussion and practice.   • Recovery College is a collaboration between Ontario Tech University and Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences. Join us forJoin us for a peer-led workshop series to master your wellness! Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of stress and anxiety management techniques, explore strategies for unwinding from stress, examine the impact of social media on wellness and develop personalized wellness plans for managing stressors and well-being.   • We encourage everyone in the university community to get involved in Sexual Violence and Education's programming, which aims to help eliminate all types of violence at Ontario Tech. Check out the schedule of events and resources. 

 In-course scholarships 

In-course scholarships are awarded if you achieve a minimum 3.7 GPA (on a 4.3 scale) during your previous academic year. You must be returning to a full-time study.
  • $1,500 - 4.0+ GPA
  • $1,000 - 3.7 to 3.99 GPA

 Donor awards 

There are a number of donor awards available to you. These awards are a valuable and lasting resource for many of our current students. Once you complete a General Bursary and Donor Award application, you'll be considered for funding. To apply, follow these steps:
  • Under Student Awards and Financial Aid, select apply for student aid/university works. 
  • Enter your network ID and password. 
  • Enter the applicable term and year, select continue.
  • Select the General Bursary application from the drop-down menu, select continue.
Métis Nation of Ontario Bursary Application

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Métis Student Bursary Program provides bursaries to registered students who are verified Métis citizens of the Métis Nation of Ontario. Applicants will be required to consent to a citizenship verification check to confirm eligibility for these awards. Funding amounts of the bursaries are determined by the MNO, based on funding availability. If you have any questions, please direct all inquiries to: psesupport@metisnation.org.

 Student direct deposit 

We've implemented a student direct deposit option. If you're not an employee of the university, you can add, change or delete your banking information in your MyOntarioTech account. To do so, navigate to personal information, then select direct deposit information.
