Updates to the university's editorial style guide

To strengthen consistency across all communications, and ensure our content remains clear, accessible and aligned, Communications and Marketing has updated the university's editorial style guide

Key updates include:

  • Accessible content: Expanded guidance on alt text, hyperlinking, and tables and charts to help create content that is inclusive, readable and accessible to all audiences.

  • Social media and digital content: Best practices for hashtags, emoji use (including accessibility considerations), screen-reader-friendly posting, plain language, concise tone and the importance of captions for visual content. 

  • Voice and tone: Highlights using an active, audience-focused voice, conversational style, and avoiding passive phrases to keep messages clear and engaging. 

We encourage everyone to review the updated style guide for upcoming projects. These changes support stronger, more cohesive messaging across all communication platforms.
