Add your extra curricular opportunities to the Student Experience Record
September 18, 2025

The Ontario Tech Student Experience Record (SER) is a comprehensive document that captures a student’s involvement in co-curricular activities throughout their Ridgeback journey. It highlights the diverse range of university experiences that contribute to personal growth beyond the classroom. Available to all Ontario Tech students, the SER showcases a student’s commitment to involvement, leadership, and development. It encourages students to reflect on their co-curricular engagement and articulate the skills and achievements they’ve gained.
The Ontario Tech SER is not just a record-keeping tool—it is an intentional instrument designed to foster reflection, deepen engagement, and support student development.
Staff and faculty are encouraged to submit an experience for this academic year to be added to the Student Experience Record. All experiences must meet the eligibility criteria:
- Be an ongoing commitment and/or training workshop.
- Be linked to—and support—the development of at least five relevant competencies.
- Have a connection to the Ontario Tech community.
- Showcase involvement, not just attendance.
- Have at least one full time staff or Faculty member who supports and oversees the experience and will act as a validator*
*The validator’s role is to maintain an accurate list of students involved in a given activity for the academic year and to support the validation process by approving or declining each position students add to their records. Each validator will be added to the Student Life Portal and will receive information on the validation process.
